High Country Gold | Mike & Souts

Mike Baz and Souts go hunting for gold in the Snowy Mountains high country

We jumped on some top of the line ebikes with our packs set for a few days. Mostly we travel light but we allow for some creature comforts and gourmet dining. After a good push into the wilderness we came to our destination, a great old hut nestled on the junction of a creek and the main river. After laying down the packs and getting set in our fishing equipment, we spent two days exploring the valleys spoils.

The fish were very excited and hungry and the quality of the fish were incredible. We sight fished big dry flies along the edges where the large browns lay in wait. All day action and when it got too dark to cast we retreated to the hut for some tails, ales and excellent food.

Day two was another exquisite session leaving us with some serious treasures for our efforts and a casual ride out on the ebikes.
